By Eric Attanasio, Chief Product Officer at Phobio The holiday season has always been a make-or-break period for retailers. For many brands it represents more than 20 percent of annual revenue. Yet this year’s outlook tells a more cautious story. Deloitte projects...

In every industry I’ve worked in, the best ideas usually come from flipping something familiar on its head. At Phobio, we did exactly that. We looked at something we already do incredibly well, powering trade-ins, and asked a simple question: What if this could do...
Apple devices enrolled in Mobile Device Management (MDM) or Apple Business/School Manager (ABM/ASM) are protected by security measures that prevent unauthorized access or reuse. However, there are legitimate reasons an organization may need to remove MDM or Activation...
The paradox keeping finance and IT leaders up at night: Why are new devices getting more expensive while your current ones are worth less every day? We're witnessing something unusual in the device market. While budget devices keep prices somewhat stable, the...
Most teams treat large language models like glorified content mills: “Write me a LinkedIn post about our product launch.” “Give me five subject lines for this email campaign.” “Create a blog post in the style of Seth Godin.” This both creates more AI sludge in the...
Retailers implementing device trade-in programs often wonder about their regulatory obligations, particularly whether they fall under secondhand dealer laws that govern pawn shops and similar businesses. A critical distinction exists between these two business models...
When Apple unveils a new iPhone, it does more than launch a product. It triggers a shift across the entire consumer electronics industry. Retailers, carriers, resale platforms, logistics providers, and trade-in programs all feel the ripple effects. The event drives a...
For years in marketing and advertising, I watched brands pour energy into building trust with their audiences. Campaigns could be clever, creative, even viral—but the ones that built lasting loyalty were the ones that aligned with people’s values. That lesson is just...

Step 1: Export a list of computers and devices from Jamf.
1. Create an Advanced Inventory Search for Computers and/or Devices
Log into Jamf Pro, under Computers and/or Devices, select Search Inventory and click the “+ New” button to create an Advanced Search.
The next view has 4 tabs: Search Criteria Display Reports
2. Search tab
Save and name this Advanced Search for future use or reference.
Then move on to the next tab…
3. Criteria tab
Here is where we set the rules to define which devices should be included in Search Report. For example, you can use attributes like model, management status, location, ownership or any other inventory criteria.
To add a criterion, click on the “+ Add” button and select the attribute, operator, and value for the rule.
The most common criteria (i.e. “Model”) are listed by default, so to select specific parameters such as device age by purchase date (i.e. “PO Date”), ownership, Activation Lock, Carrier Network, lease status, etc. you may need to select “Show Advanced Criteria.”
In this example, we’ll look for devices that were purchased over 600 days ago, so the rule would be
criteria: PO Date
operator: more than x days ago
value: 600
You can add multiple criteria to narrow down the group using “All” or “Any” logic to determine whether all or any of the criteria must be met for a device to be included in the results.
